Aristocracy & Independence

D.C. Senanayake

Independence activist

Don Charles Senanayake (1884–1967) was an independence activist and agriculturalist, and the brother of F.R. and D.S. Senanayake.

He was active in the temperance movement and, like his brothers, was arrested during the 1915 riots. He worked principally on agricultural development and land settlement, and served in the State Council. He was closely involved in the colonisation schemes of the dry zone that his brother directed as Minister of Agriculture and Lands.
