Anura Bandaranaike (1949–2008) was Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka from 2000 to 2001, and Leader of the Opposition from 1983 to 1988. He was the son of S.W.R.D. and Sirimavo Bandaranaike and the brother of Chandrika Kumaratunga.
He entered Parliament in 1977 and represented Nuwara Eliya and later Gampaha. His career was marked by an unusual trajectory across party lines: he led the opposition as a member of his mother's Sri Lanka Freedom Party, later crossed to the United National Party, and subsequently returned. He held the portfolios of Higher Education and of Tourism, and was Minister of National Heritage at his death.
