A seated Buddha in the dhyana mudra, carved from dolomite marble and generally dated to the third or fourth century CE.

It is among the most reproduced images of Sri Lankan sculpture, and its reputation rests on restraint rather than scale — the modelling of the robe, the resolution of the posture, and an expression that reads differently depending on the angle it is viewed from.
